Another recipient of a Saddle Notes Award this year was the Tri-Community Food Bank.
The mission of the Tri-Community Food Bank is “Don’t send a child to bed hungry.”
The funds provided by Saddle Notes, Inc. were targeted for three-day nutritious emergency food boxes for families in need. The size of each box is determined by the number of individuals in the household. To receive these boxes individuals must complete an application, provide proof that they live within the geographical boundaries of southeast Pinal county including Oracle, San Manuel, Reddington, Mammoth and the surrounding area and certify that their income falls below 185 percent of the current federal poverty level. The Food Bank provided 3,732 nutritious food boxes to 11,828 individuals on 2017.
The Food Bank is staffed entirely by volunteers who staff the food pantry and thrift shop during all hours of operation. Volunteers also fill and distribute food boxes, stock the pantry, operate the thrift shop and pick up donated items.
The Tri-Community Food Bank, Inc. has been a 501(c)(3) since 2001 and is in good standing with the Arizona Corporation Commission.
Thanks to the articles written by residents for the Saddlebag Notes and the more than 100 volunteers who deliver the paper each month, Saddle Notes Inc. is able to provide grants each year to organizations that strive to improve the lives of residents in communities neighboring SaddleBrooke. The Arizona Daily Star provides Saddle Notes Inc. a donation in recognition of the residents efforts to create and deliver the paper from Saddlebag Notes’ advertising revenue. Our advertisers, some of whom have advertised for many years, recognize the value of the Saddlebag Notes and its contributions to the community.
