Every month, like clockwork, residents of SaddleBrooke wake up to find the SaddleBag Notes hanging from their mailbox tubes. Did you know that the paper is delivered by a dedicated team of Senior Village volunteers?

SaddleBag Notes delivery transitioned to Senior Village in 2023. With approximately 120 volunteers, our delivery team embodies the spirit of neighbors helping neighbors, a core tenet of Senior Village. The monthly time commitment is minimal, ranging from 45 minutes to a few hours, depending on the size of the newspaper route.

Delivering this newspaper is nothing like what you likely remember from your youth, i.e., greeting each day at 4:30 a.m. and lugging a heavy bag. Distributing SaddleBag Notes is a relaxed and convenient experience:

Deliveries are made just once a month.

The physical requirements are minimal; volunteers simply place each newspaper in a plastic sleeve and hang it on the mailbox tube.

Most volunteers opt for a leisurely drive in their golf carts, accompanied by a friend or partner.

If you’re interested in being of service as a delivery volunteer, the first step is to email Senior Village Volunteer Coordinator Mary Toth at mary.toth@seniorvillage.org. Whether you’re a seasoned volunteer or someone looking to make a difference in your community, delivering SaddleBag Notes offers a chance to give back to your community, soak up some sun and spread joy one newspaper at a time.
