On Monday, April 8, two docents from Tohono Chul Gardens gave the SaddleBrooke Nature Club members a presentation titled, “It’s More Than Just Cactus” about the plants that grow in our Sonoran Desert. Barb Carolus and Carol Massanari have been docents at Tohono Chul for 12 and eight years, respectively. They shared their knowledge and little-known facts about the plants we see in our yards and those with which we are not as familiar.

Jim Harris was the lucky winner of our raffle prize book called 101 “101 Roadside Wildflowers”.

The Nature Club offered its members a free lunch at the Spring Picnic at Catalina State Park on Wednesday, April 17. It was a welcome to our spring weather and a farewell to the snowbirds. The fun activity was a magic show by SB resident and nature club member, Ken Marich and his able assistant/wife, Barb Marich.

On Wednesday, May 1, 30 members of the club will be going to the Boyce Thompson Arboretum for the second field trip of the season. After a docent-led tour, the members will have lunch at Mt. Athos restaurant in Florence to complete the adventure.
