With the weather graciously cooperating this year, we had our annual Niner’s Tournament with our friends over in Oro Valley Sun City. The tournament was a mixed scramble of players from both communities on each team. On Wednesday, February 28, we played the SaddleBrooke nine-hole course here in SaddleBrooke. On Thursday, February 29, we played the back nine at The Views course in Sun City. Over 72 golfers participated each day and a celebration of food and beer at the RoadRunner Grill followed the Wednesday event. All agreed that it was a good time and good company!
On Wednesday, the winning team was Darell Jelsma, Ken Ratcliff, David Green and Peter Zwick. Runners up were David Doherty, Ed McLaughlin, Bob Schoepflin and John Fulton.
On Thursday, the winning team was Ken Schroeder, John Daily, Curt Abbott and Dean Hood. Runners up were Ed Hurlbut, Gary Gibson, Tom Cluley and Irwin Rothenberg.
