When I was working (a long time ago) we exchanged recipes around the office and one of my co-workers shared the following with us. Of course, none of us had much time to bake, but now that we’re retired we have more time and we have many friends and acquaintances that we may wish to share a recipe or two. You may think it is too hot to use the oven at this time of year, but if you have a get together or gathering you want to attend, you can bake early in the morning or later in the evening. And this will take little of your time and effort – but will be delicious and will warrant rave reviews.
Cherry Dump Cake
2 cans Cherry Pie Filling – put in the bottom of a 9 x 13 greased pan
Take 1 box Yellow Cake Mix (dry) and spread on the cherry filling
Cut 2 quarters of a pound of butter or oleo cut into thin slices and put on top of the cake mix
Sprinkle nuts on top
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour (if you use a glass pan set the oven to 325 degrees and bake 1 hour)
Let cool and cut into squares. Top with whipped cream, if desired.
