Before I delve into the happenings of our Verde Sputters, I want to take a minute of remembrance for our recently passed member, Elaine Ackerman. She was a great lady and a long-time member of the Sputters. She always greeted you with a smile and always was there to lend a hand to anyone that needed it. Her passing left a big hole in the Verde Sputters, as well as in our hearts.
It was a super morning in December 2024 for “sputting”, 44 members and two guests (Daniel Ackerman and Jessica Young) joined in the fun. Hazel Roper and both Jessica and Daniel got three hole-in-ones—what a day! Let’s begin with the lowest scorer, Marilyn Palatas had a 37; the 38 scorers were: Deb Gryniewicz, Donna McPherson, Hazel Roper, Karen Simmons, Pam Young and our guest Jessica Young; the 39 scorers were Sandra Gerlach, Jan Haney, Cathy Howard, Lee Kump, Opal Larkin, Lydia O’Connor and Mary Vandermast.
At our December 2024 luncheon, there was a vote to accept the 2025 budget, so you can see what your dues goes toward throughout the year and the 2025 to 2027 Board was elected.
The new Board members are as follows: Connie Kotke and Pam Young — Co-Presidents, Donna McPherson and Karen Simmons — Co-Vice Presidents Laurie Miller and Sandy Ripley – Treasurers, and Laura Berkley and Karen Loft – Secretaries. Like the song says, “It takes two Baby, it takes two”. The installation of the new members will be held at the luncheon on Monday, January 6. Fifty members attended this membership luncheon, where are all the other 60—enjoying Happy Holidays? All come, ya’ hear!
A huge thank you goes out to all of you for your generous contribution to the Tri-Community Food Bank in Mammoth. Not only were gifts delivered by Marilyn Palatas and Sue Ryan but also $810 was donated. A pat on the back goes to all who donated. As Marilyn and Sue now volunteer at the Food Bank, one may give them your donations anytime and they will take it up to the Food Bank. One of the pleasures of being a Sputter is experiencing the generosity of our members helping those who are less fortunate.
After a delicious luncheon of chicken piccata, games were played and a winner got to take home the centerpiece at their table. Winners were Barbara Rempel, Mary Vandermast, Monica Light, Chris McFadden, Virginia LaBar, Lavonne Ashwood and Alida Wilkes.
A new membership year begins January 2025 and extends to December 2025. Please pay your membership dues by Mondaym December 9 (oops, we’re late) if you want to be listed in the Membership Directory.
