Come Join the Verde Sputters—the Putting club. No more dragging around for three to four hours in the hot sun or the winter cold. Sputters usually takes only one hour—sometime an hour and a half—and meet in the RoadRunner Grill for a quick meeting, lunch or breakfast to those who want to stay. Then, we have real fun again at the business luncheon meetings.

The Verde Sputters was established in July 1982 with eight members to provide women with an organized putting activity here in SaddleBrooke. We promote fellowship, charitable opportunities, and social activities. Our membership consists of ladies who have never before played golf, former golfers and casual golfers. Anyone who does not belong to a SaddleBrooke organized golfing or putting group is welcome to join.

Meanwhile, update the news of our ladies of Verde Sputters. On Monday, August 28, rumor has it that Jean Matheson was dancing a jig as she got three hole-in-ones and scored a 38! I see a Star in her future. There were 21 Sputters who got to see this including two new members who joined Verde Sputters: Marge Vandermuss and Ann Villar, Welcome, Marge and Ann! There were 19 hole-in-ones and we had several impressive Sputters that had low scores: Donna Bujnovsky (37) Laura Berkley (38) Lee Kump (38) Jean Matheson (38) Sue Spaniol (39). The remaining Hole-in-ones are as follows: Laura Berkley 2; Donna Bujnovsky 2; Donna McPherson 2; Jan Stebbins 2; Connie Kotke 1; Karen Martin 1; Laurie Miller 1; Sue Spaniol 1; Penny Stowe 1; Karen Taylor 1; Marge Vandermuss 1; Ann Villar 1. Great job, ladies!

The mornings must be cooling down as there were 28 Sputters and one guest on Monday, September4, working up an appetite for our September luncheon. Donna Bujnovsky and Jean Matheson each received their Star at the luncheon and Ann Villar won the free lunch. A big shout out goes to the committee of Jan Haney, Pat Pilon, Louise Weiss, Sheelagh Simpson, Jan Deer and Sue Leasure for a job well done. So, when it comes time for the WHITE BOOK to come out to sign up for our various committees, these ladies will be more than happy to answer any of your questions.

There were 23 Hole-in-ones on this fine morning. The low score of 39 goes to Janet Knowles and Laurie Miller. Get your putting in now as the putting greens will be closed Monday, September 25 to Monday, October 23. Winter hours will start in October. Sign-in will begin at 9 a.m. and putting at 9:30 a.m. We arrive 20 to 25 minutes to our scheduled putting time at the SaddleBrooke putting green to draw team assignments.

The Sputters will host the Niners/Sputters event on Tuesday, October 24.

See ya there!
