Back in May of this year, two Lady Putter’s members, Karen Stott and Judy Falewicz spearheaded the annual fundraiser for the Mammoth-San Manuel Education Foundation. They had set a hopeful goal of $2,000 to be obtained by the end of August. By the end of July, less than half had been collected making the goal appear unreachable and bleak. Thanks to a Newsblast (putters newsletter) nudging by current president Patty Stark and past president Roberta Wisniewski and an unexpected August luncheon commercial by Marilyn Ginther, Treasurer, singing “The Wheels on the Bus”, crawled inside of a four-foot nylon pop-up School Bus and made an announcement encouraging the ladies to participate in donating to the fundraiser to reach the goal. “Teamwork makes Dreams Work”.
That week, the treasurer was receiving checks every day in the mail coming from near and far (our faithful snowbirds), the putters’ black box was filled with checks and cash and funds donated at the luncheon. We were almost to the goal amount… in fact just $3 short. Roberta sends out a “Hail Mary” email and more funds were received by Thursday, August 31. A winning touchdown… drum roll. $2,122 will be sent to the school. Way to GO PUTTERS!
