When was the last time you had your roof inspected? How about your home? Irrigation system?
Like most homeowners, probably not since you built or purchased your home.
Well, perhaps you should start thinking about doing just that. When new homes are built, you get all this paperwork telling you about what is and is not warranted. Many of you think your roof has a lifetime guarantee, but you would be wrong… the tile may have had a lifetime guarantee (before Robson’s original tile contractor went out of business), but the underlayment does not.
During heavy monsoon winds and rain, those tiles can shift and slip which may cause small tears in that underlayment, eventually causing water to get into the seams of the wood and create damage to the interior of your home. Most reputable roofing companies will do a roof inspection at no cost to you. Why not take advantage of a free estimate and schedule an appointment before you incur replacement costs? Get several estimates to compare. Makes sense to me…
How about a home inspection? While all home inspectors charge for this service, it may well be in your best interest to have it done, and for just a few hundred dollars, it could save you many thousands in the long run. Not only do they inspect the interior of your home, but they also check all windows and doorways for possible damage from broken window seals to termite or pest invasion.
This time of year, your irrigation system is working overtime and some of the older poly systems can develop splits that allow precious water to flow excessively. There are several good landscape companies who service SaddleBrooke and can check your irrigation system before you have a problem.
Another good service to check into is pest control. Did you know that pack rats can get into your attic and cause many thousand dollars worth of damage before you ever realize they are there?
This is the most predominant time of year for all the above to occur and while it is easy to say my home is in perfect condition… can you guarantee it?
When you decide to stay in the dark about your home’s condition, you may unknowingly incur more damage and, ultimately, you are degrading the value of what is likely your largest asset, your home.
If you’re in need of a referral for companies that do these types of inspections, a good practice is to consult a realtor. Feel free to reach out to me at joparsons44@gmail.com, or Realtor Beth Fedor at (520) 271-3643.
