My daughter sent me this recipe, a Patriotic Pizza, a few years ago and I thought it was appropriate this year since it is election time and we are upcoming onto a big holiday, Thanksgiving Day. She says it’s soooo easy, and it’s always been a great hit at family gatherings.

The base is the Pillsbury refrigerated sugar cookie dough, cut into pieces, then formed into a circle, or you can press into the bottom of a 12-inch pizza pan.

Bake in a 350 degree oven until golden brown, about 16 to 20 minutes. Cool for 30 minutes.

In a medium bowl, beat 8 oz. room temperature cream cheese, 1/4 cup powdered sugar, and 2 teaspoons grated lemon peel until fluffy.

Spread over baked (and cooled) crust.

Arrange 2 cups fresh raspberries in the shape of a star. Surround it with 2 cups fresh blueberries.

Drizzle or brush with melted apple jelly. This will give it a nice glazed look and help to keep the fruit in place.
