Join the Wellness Integrated Network (WIN) on Friday, October 4 at 2 p.m. in the DesertView Performing Arts Center to learn about other options for pain. In a program entitled “Evidence Based Complementary and Alternative Pain Medicine”, Dr. Joseph Tilchen offers a review of evidence-based options for treatment of pain including microcurrent, photobiomodulation, botanical medicine and more. “Dr. Joe” has offices in both Catalina and Scottsdale.

Dr. Joseph Tilchen (Dr. Joe) is a naturopathic physician licensed in both Arizona and Minnesota. The role of doctor is a second career for Dr. Joe, as he worked as an engineer before going back to school to start a new direction professionally. After earning his Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan, he worked in southern California on the design and testing of liquid rocket engine technologies for customers such as NASA, DARPA, and the United States Air Force Research Laboratory.

The inspiration to enter the healthcare field arose when working on a ballistic missile program, when he decided supporting weapons development efforts was not how he wanted to finish his career. Dr. Joe later earned his doctorate in Naturopathic medicine from the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, now called Sonoran University of Health Sciences. Shortly after beginning work as a physician, Dr. Joe also earned a Master of Pain Medicine from the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine, though his thesis is not yet complete.

In clinical practice, he focuses mainly on pain relief, autoimmune conditions and neurological syndromes, where he enjoys bringing relief to people who have found it difficult to make progress otherwise. Among his preferred tools for supporting healing, Dr. Joe enjoys using energy-based therapies such as microcurrent and photobiomodulation, along with traditional naturopathic approaches such as botanical medicines, lifestyle support and targeted nutritional therapies.
