Welcome Rabbi

Daniel PriceWe are delighted to welcome Rabbi Daniel “Danny” Price to Congregation B’nai Midbar.

Rabbi Daniel “Danny” Price received his Rabbinic Ordination from the Academy for Jewish Religion in New York. He has over two decades of experience as a Rabbi, Educator and Cantorial Soloist. With a B.A. in Music/Communications from Plattsburgh State University, a MJEd Master of Jewish Education from Hebrew College, he began his professional journey with a 21-year career as a television producer/director in New York. Discovering Tucson several years ago via bicycle training, he fell in love with the city. Like many of us, after several trips, he bought a home here, in Tucson.

Rabbi Price has served as Rabbi for a number of Congregations in Southwest Fairfield County, Connecticut. For eight years, he was both Rabbi and Cantorial Soloist for High Holy Day Services on Block Island, Rhode Island. He served as interim Rabbi/Cantorial soloist at Congregation Beth Shalom-Rodef Tzedek in Chester, CT from 2022 to 2023. Most recently, Rabbi Price has served as the Rabbi-in Residence at Kol Ami in Tucson.

Working remotely, Rabbi Price is the Controller for the Academy for Jewish Religion in New York.

Rabbi Price believes that Judaism is compelling, like art or Shakespeare. The more you know, the more you want to know. Danny is a Reform Rabbi and sees himself as both a docent and a teacher of Liberal Judaism. He believes in creating advocates for the Jewish People through informal Jewish Education. The more we know, the more meaningful our connection to Judaism and thus the more we are able to answer or find answers to questions others may ask.

Danny is a trained musician who plays bass and sings with Klezmerkaba, Tucson’s premier Klezmer Band. He also plays in two local rock and roll bands.

Rabbi Price wishes to enhance and invigorate our pulpit along with spiritual and educational opportunities. We welcome Rabbi Price and his family to B’nai Midbar.

BIG Changes in Store! The year, 5785, marks some new changes and faces. We welcome Rabbi Daniel Price to our pulpit. Our new Torah will be a highlight at our High Holiday services. And we will move to a new meeting place.

We are lucky to live in a very vibrant and active community. Often, due to the many activities we have, the availability of meeting rooms cannot keep up with demand. Knowing the circumstances, our need to have meeting places available to coincide with the Jewish calendar created a need to look at alternatives. We have been successful in finding an offsite location.

The Santa Catalina Catholic Church has a beautiful campus, and they have been very welcoming to our request. The church has agreed to provide the necessary space to hold our services at their Parish House. Our congregation will have the consistency to plan, organize and worship together, knowing where and when we will be. Including Onegs and the Yom Kippur ‘Break the Fast’.

The church is approximately eight miles from SaddleBrooke with a travel time of 15 to 20 minutes by car. Parking is plentiful. We understand that some members and guests would like to carpool. For carpool requests, email Esta Goldstein at jdsa38@icloud.com.

High Holy Day services will be officiated by Rabbi Daniel Price. Participating in the delivery of the services are our exceptional professionals, Eliyanah Powers, Cantorial Soloist and Dr. Joshua Nichols, Accompanist. We are honored to have Stephen Beecher, Cellist, perform ‘Kol Nidre’ (All Vows) at the Yom Kippur evening service.

Tashlich service will be on Thursday, October 3. Tashlich symbolizes the forgiveness of sins. It is represented by prayers of forgiveness while casting pieces of bread into a flowing body of water. The bread symbolizes the sins of the past year and is swept away. Those who embrace this tradition are spiritually cleansed and renewed.

A Tradition! At the end of Rosh Hashanah morning services, B’nai Midbar presents honey cakes to members in celebrations of the New Year. If you would like to join the “bakers” and help make this a sweet New Year, email Melanie Einbund at meinbund@sbcglobal.net.

Exciting NewsWe have a website! Shalomcloud.com is the application! As the rollout begins, please look for emails from Bonnie Lasky. Bonnie has investigated, spoken to numerous congregations, and worked diligently to bring this important communication tool to us. Todah Rabah (Thank You), Bonnie!
