The Pool Players of the Brooke Billiards Club (PPB) held their second Ladder Competition with 20 PPB Members participating. Tony “The Snake” Cardillo implemented and administered the PPB Ladder competition. The main reason for this competition was to increase head-to-head competition within the PPB Billiard Club. Each challenge on the Ladder was a race to four eight-ball match. There were two divisions within the Ladder competition, Minnesota Fats division and the Willie Mosconi division. The Ladder started on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, and ran until Friday, April 18 with the divisional playoffs on Tuesday, April 22.
Minnesota Fats Division (MFD):
The MFD participants were Tony “The Snake” Cardillo, Joe “Ball Breaker” Vidmar, Jack “Crash” Hoverter, Dave Parker, Fred “The Baker” Dianda, Randy “Nice Try” Smith, Phelps “Montana” L’Hommedieu, Joe “Fast Eddie” Giammarino, Gary “One Rail” Barlow and Dick “Pocket Blocker” Dunbar. When the MFD ladder competition ended, Tony Cardillo, Joe Vidmar, and Jack Hoverter, the top three finishers in the MFD division, competed in a playoff to determine the final positions and prizes for that division. The format of the ladder playoffs was double elimination race to three eight-Ball.
Minnesota Fats Division Final Results First place -Tony “The Snake” Cardillo; 10 wins, 6 losses
Second place — Jack “Crash” Hoverter; 7 wins, 7 losses
Third place — Joe “Ball Breaker” Vidmar; 2 wins, 6 losses
Willie Mosconi Division (WMD) The WMD participants were Tom Walter, Dan “Rambo” Sollin, Russ “Longshot” Doring, Lowell “8-Ball” Hegg, Dick “The Visor” Titus, Rich “Hide the Salami” Adinolfi, Jim Samlaska, Steve Wiley, Riley Jackson and Rodger Beard. When the WMD ladder competition ended, Tom Walter, Dan Sollin and Russ Doering, the top three finishers in the MFD division, competed in a playoff to determine the final positions and prizes for that division. The format of the Ladder playoffs was double elimination.
Willie Mosconi Division Final Results First place — Tom Walter 7 wins, 5 losses
Second place — Russ “Longshot” Doering 5 wins, 7 losses
Third place — Dan “Rambo” Sollin N/A
