“I truly find joy living in the high desert,” states Theresa Poalucci when speaking about her life and her art in SaddleBrooke. A transplant from the Pacific Northwest, Theresa uses her canvas to pay tribute to her surroundings of “…sunlight, color, unusual plant life and the diversity of the wildlife…” These owners of the desert southwest speak to her as she paints the simplicity as well as the depth found in the “warm colors” of the desert.

Theresa continues to challenge herself not only a painter of the desert, but also as one who respects and learns from the possibilities brought by our ever-changing technological world through science and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Science has “…transformed us, not only by advancing our knowledge, but by improving the quality of our lives.”

Inspired by the very real discussions taking place in the field of art and many in that genre asking what constitutes art, Theresa’s creativity has found further expression. Digital Art. Just as photography has now been recognized as a true form of art, Theresa sees digital art as real art also. “I am just using pixels instead of paint on a brush,” she said. This type of art is “…just a natural progression as we have access to more tools.”

The SaddleBrooke Fine Arts Guild (SBFAG) is proud to present a live demonstration of Digital Art on Tuesday, October 15 at 10:30 a.m. in the Topaz Room at HOA-2. Theresa Poalucci, a SBFAG member, will create a piece of art on her computer, projected on a giant screen, as she explains the digital techniques used in telling nature’s stories on canvas.

Theresa’s work is currently being shown at Absolutely Art Gallery and Gifts in Catalina, the Southern Arizona Arts Guild Gallery in Tucson and the K. Newby Gallery in Tubac. She also has an Etsy store where she sells prints of her work, both digital and otherwise.
