June is busting out all over and the featured dance from the SaddleBrooke Ballroom Dance Club (SBDC) will be Bachata, taught by Harry and Dottie Adams. The Bachata is a vibrant and passionate genre of music and dance originating in the Dominican Republic. Its themes of love, heartbreak and passion using guitar rhythms, deep bass and percussion instruments like bongos have captivated audiences worldwide and given it global popularity. It is a sensual and intimate dance with four-step rhythm and hip movements. Bachata classes begin Sunday, June 1 and will be held every Sunday and Tuesday in the MountainView ballroom. Beginner classes start at 3 p.m. on Sundays and at 5 p.m. on Tuesdays, with Intermediate classes immediately following on both days. Harry and Dottie are experienced bachata teachers and will make you feel comfortable retting on the dance floor and having fun.
Question: Feet feeling rusty? Never ever danced? Answer: Novice Classes
Novice classes are an introduction to ballroom dancing and run by our resident professional dancers, Dale and Ann Pizzitola. In these classes, you will learn the basic steps to several partner dances. This program has been a tremendous success, and hundreds of SaddleBrooke residents are now enjoying the fruits of their labor. Best of all… It’s FREE; SBDC membership is not required. Novice classes are held on the first and second Wednesday of each month, so Wednesday, June 4 and Wednesday, June 11 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Mariposa room at DesertView. A review session of the dances taught will be held on Wednesday, June 25, also at 4 p.m. in the Mariposa Room.
