Run your cube of butter or oleo over the bottom and sides of a 2 qt. casserole dish.
Pare and slice 6 or 7 apples (I like yellow delicious). As you slice, sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on the apples throughout. If you like, add some raisins.
Topping - Mix in a separate bowl until crumbly:
3/4 cup Flour
Pinch Salt
1/2 tsp. Cinnamon
1/4 tsp. Nutmeg
1/4 cup reg. Sugar
1/4 c. Brown Sugar
1 Tbsp. Oleo or Butter
Method:
Place crumbled topping over your apples.
Pour melted butter or oleo (about 2 Tbsp.) on top of the crumbled topping and sprinkle with cinnamon.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 35 to 45 minutes. Check at 30 minutes because you don’t want it to burn; that will cause bitterness. If you use a glass (Pyrex) casserole dish use a 325 degree oven.
Vanilla ice cream is great with this dessert served slightly warm.
