The 2024 MountainView/Preserve Women's Golf Association Club Championship, sponsored by Sonora Investment Management, was held on Tuesday, November 5 and Wednesday, November 6. Golfers competed in a two-day, overall low gross score tournament to claim the Club Championship and grand prize. There were also flighted prizes for low gross and net, and for KPs (Closest to Pin) on all Par 3s. Both days of golf were held at MountainView Golf Course (since The Preserve Course was recently overseeded, and would have been walking only). It was a bit cool at first, both days, but golfers shedded extra layers quickly.
Lori Stegink won the event for the second year in a row, with a low gross of 158 (80 on Day 1, 78 on Day 2), beating her score from last year of 169. Stegink is an Environmental Consultant who began playing with MPWGA in 2018. Her roles in the club have included sponsorship and treasurer, she is the current VP, and is nominated as the 2025 Club President. Stegink said, “I’ve been feeling like Jekyll and Hyde, because I haven’t been able to put two rounds together.” As is tradition, the past year’s winner organized this year’s event, and picked out the trophy. Stegink happily accepted this year’s trophy of a wine carafe. She joked, “I was worried someone would win who didn’t drink wine!”
An Awards luncheon was held at the MountainView Ballroom where ladies lunched on a delicious chicken taco salad, and chocolate cake. Resident Pro, Mike Karpe, announced award winners. Congratulations to Club Champion Stegink ($125), and all of the Flight Prize Winners (Flight payouts: first place - $65, second place - $45 and third place - $30).
