As January came to a close, the SaddleBrooke Women’s Golf Association-18ers hosted their three Jill’s and a Jack tournament. With members forming teams of three plus an invited male guest, 26 teams participated in a step-aside scramble. We lucked out with the weather, and we finished off with a lunch of lasagna, salad, garlic bread and cannolis.
The beginning of February found us engaged in one of our major tournaments: The Presidents Cup. This is a match play tournament played over four days. Starting with a qualifying round of 32, players competed in four flights. Second round winners were: (Washington flight) Becky Hubbard and Carol Bidwell. (Adams flight) Judy Briney, Suzanne Stone-Griffith, (Jefferson flight) Ann Stonecipher and Maggie Falconer. (Lincoln flight) Marcia Camp and Judy Schilling.
The tournament was played throughout the month with the following schedule: Qualifying Round - Tuesday, February 4; Round #1 – Tuesday, February 11; Round #2 – Thursday, February 13; Round #3 – Saturday, February 15; SemiFinal – Tuesday, February 18; Final Match – Thursday, February 20. (As of this edition’s submission deadline, only the first two rounds had been completed). Stay tuned for the final results.
